A Survey of Critically Endangered Forest Spotted Owlet (Heteroglaux blewitti) in Madhya Pradesh:
The project was initiated in January 2005 to conduct survey for the Forest Spotted Owlet in the State of Madhya Pradesh. The duration of survey was 6 months. The survey was very fruitful and two new sites for the Forest spotted owlet was found that is Burhanpur divion and Khandwa Division and a total of 21 individuals were observed during the whole survey. Since teak bearing forest i.e. Betul Distrcit, Chhindwara Disrict and Balaghat District was not covered during the above project. An extension  was given in the August 2005.

Four horned antelope Tetracerus quadricornis: Habitat use and its role in forest herbivore community:
Project aims at study of home ranges and habitat preferences of four horned antelope and collection of data on density and demography for supporting population viability modeling. The study will also provide details on significance of four horns in antelope's biology and four horned antelope's importance in forest herbivore community as primary consumer and prey. Status of fish biodiversity conservation in some protected aquatic areas of Narmada basin:
The primary objective of the project is documentation of aquatic biodiversity in protected areas and conservation status of endangered species. Awareness generation among students and common man and networking of institutions are also secondary objectives of the project. Project duration is eighteen months and PI of the project is Dr. Vipin Vyas, Lecturer, Limnology Department, Barkutullah University, Bhopal.

Biodiversity Education Resource Material for Teachers:
Project aims at compilation of existing resource material on biodiversity and biodiversity education, Text book analysis to identify 'plug points' for relating the extra curricular material to curricula, develop a draft in Hindi, including a book, display material and CDs. The target group is teachers of standards 6th-8th especially related to eco-clubs, nature education. Dissemination of the material is through NGC mater trainers' workshops, divisional level Mowgli Utsav workshops and other workshops with teachers. The project duration is 4 months and PI is Shri Kapil Sarastrabudhhe, Project coordinator, Center for Environment Education, Pune.

Plant diversity of Chambal Region with special reference to Conservation Strategy of Threatened Taxa:
The project aims at achieving the tasks of survey of Phytodiversity of the eco-region covering Chambal district including Gwalior, Bhind, Morena, Datia, Sheopur, Shivpuri and Guna and identify RET and endemic species and their current status in the eco region. It will also give threat assessments to the survival of RET species in the eco-region and survey of focal species (8-10 prioritized on the basis of significant economic value and socio-cultural value) and ascertain their status. Project duration is 3 years and PI of the project is Dr. A.K Jain, Director, Institute of Ethobotany, Jiwaji University, Gwalior.

Strategic plan for establishing/strengthening botanical garden at Bhopal:
The project aims at achieving the tasks of survey of Phytodiversity of the eco-region covering Central eco-region including Bhopal, Vidisha, Raisen and Sehore and identify RET and endemic species and their current status in the eco-region. It will also give threat assessments to the survival of RET species in the eco-region and survey of focal species (8-10 prioritized on the basis of significant economic value and socio-cultural value) and ascertain their status and also suggest list of representative and RET and endemic species to be planted in identified areas for Botanical Garden species. Project duration is of 18 months and Principal Investigator is Dr.Shahi Rai, Principal, Sarogini Naidu P.G. Govt. Girls College, Bhopal.

Building up a community based Conservation Education Program for the globally threatened bird Lesser Florican (Sepheotides indica) in Madhya Pradesh:
The project is basically the survey in the State of MP, to gather baseline data to develop conservation program for the Lesser florican and identify key stakeholders at finer level (the village level) and gain some understanding of inter and intra community dynamics at this level. While surveying preliminary communication with identified stakeholder and community leaders will also be done and distribution of initial education material will also be taken care of. Project duration is four months and PI of the project is Dr. Avinish Kumar, Project Coordinator (MP), Center for Environment Education, Bhopal.

Status survey of some locally used medicinal plants Vindhyan Eco-region:
The project aims at status survey collection, identification; taxonomic characterization of locally used important medicinal plants of Vindhyan eco-region and studies the conservation measures taken so far and evaluation strategies for ex-situ and in situ conservation. Project duration is one year and PI of the project is Dr. S.N. Mihra, HOD, Botany Department, Govt. Science Model College, Rewa.

Assessment of Status and role of sacred grooves in conservation of biodiversity at different levels in MP:
In the first year of the project 2 districts of Madhya Pradesh i.e. Mandala & Dindori will be studied for finding status of sacred groove, inventorization of their flora and fauna, studying the status of endemic, rare and threatened medicinal plants in these groves and documenting traditional knowledge associated with the natural resources found in these scared groves. The project is for one year and will be extended every projectized for a period of 5 yrs so that all the scared groves of MP can be covered. Survey of Flora and Fauna of the Research and Extension Center, Gwalior
Project aims at documentation of all the flora and fauna of the area of 200ha. of reserved forest compartment No. 306, Gwalior and record their status and also formulate strategies for management of wild life in the study area. Project duration one year and Shri Jasbeer Chauhan, Conservator of Forest, Research and Extension Circle, Gwalior (MP) handles the project.

To study species diversity, their richness, conservation thorough awareness and utilization pattern in ethono-medicinal plants prevalent in tribal pockets of Satpura plateau in MP:
Project aims at documentation of the traditional knowledge on ethno-medicinal uses of plants from tribal community and utilization pattern of medicinal plants and their parts in different formulations by traditional healers of Stapura plateau. The project study will also provide the channels involved in procurement of herbal plants as raw material for preparation of finished products and their marketing. During the study, pamphlets and technical bulletins and extension aids for utilization by end-users; for creating awareness for conservation of medicinal plants will also be done. Project duration is 5 years and in the first year four districts of MP i.e. Mandla, Chhindwara, Katni and Jabalpur will be covered. PI of the project is Dr.Rajiv Rai, Scientist, Tropical Forest Research Institute of Forest, Jabalpur.

Biodiversity of Fish species in aquatic ecosystem of Rewa district
The objectives of the project are documentation of fish biodiversity of the wetlands of Rewa district and also the documentation of water resources of the same area. Identification of spawning area of fishes and enlist the strategies for their conservation. Project duration is one year and PI of the project is Dr. S.N Shukla, Department of Zoology, Govt. Model College, Rewa.

MP Bird Vocalizations:
The project is about making interactive audio CD of vocalizations of birds of Madhya Pradesh with narration of necessary details about birds in English and Hindi languages. The work aims to cover around 150 species found in major habits of the State.The project duration is of 15 months and principal investigator of the project is Prof. Pratap singh, Associate Professor, Faculty of Ecosystem Management and Technical Forestry, Indian Institute of Forest Management, Bhopal. Floral Biodiversity of Ujjain Division, their status, cataloging and documentation.
Project aims at finding status, cataloguing and documentation of flora of six districts of Ujjain Division, Ujjain, Devas, Shajapur, Ratlam, Mandsaur, Neemuch with special reference to Ghanhisagar sanctuary, Khivani sanctuary, Bagli regions, Surmadya regions, Agar Chandan area and Onkeshwar regions. Project duration is four months and PI of the project is Prof.VP Singh, Head of the Department, institute of Plant Management and Sciences, Vikram University, Ujjain.

Faunal Biodiversity of Ujjain Division, their status, cataloging and documentation.
Project aims at finding status, cataloguing and documentation of fauna of six districts of Ujjain Division, Ujjain, Devas, Shajapur, Ratlam, Mandsaur, Neemuch with special reference to Ghanhisagar sanctuary, Khivani sanctuary, Bagli regions, Surmadya regions, Agar Chandan area and Onkeshwar regions.
